About Musiara Sector
Musiara Sector is located on the northern side of the Masai Mara and is geographically demarcated by the Mara and Talek rivers. This creates a fertile ecosystem that attracts the wildebeest during the migration season. The sector is also known for the Musiara Marsh, which attracts wildlife during the dry season, including elephants, buffalo, and hippos. It is particularly known for the Big Cats Diary, a program that aired from 1996 to 2008 on BBC. You can access this area using the Musiara Gate when driving from Nairobi or Musiara Airstrip, if you are flying from Nairobi.

Governor’s Il Moran is situated on the banks of the Mara River, offering stunning views and the sounds of hippos snorting in the distance. The dining tent offers a bird’s-eye view of the wildlife below, including hippos. The communal area has raised wooden decking with a view of the surrounding wildlife and river. It also features comfortable seating, including large blue sofas that make you feel cosy and relaxed.
There are also wicker chairs in the lounge area and private verandah, allowing you to sit, relax, and enjoy the view and the wildlife. You will also find a bar and a dining area overlooking the river.

Guests at Governor’s Il Moran Camp have spacious tents featuring a large, comfortable sofa, a heavy wooden writing desk, and dark, chunky wooden tables. The tents are fully mosquito-proofed, allowing you to relax and stay insect-free.
Additionally, each tent has a private verandah, twin washbasins, a flush toilet, a shower attachment with cold running water, and a standalone bathtub. The decor is enhanced with tribal portraits to add to the ambiance and celebrate the local culture. If you are like me, you would request room service, which is available on request, and tea and coffee are served in the tents with the morning wake-up call. Il Moran is all about personal services, with the camp manager looking after you.

They are large and beautifully decorated with a hand-carved king-sized olive-wood bed, heavy wooden writing desk, and large en-suite bathroom with twin washbasins and hot and cold running water.
Every tenant also has a private viewing verandah to take in the stunning views. Another feature is the communal area with an open dining tent, lounge area, and bar where you can enjoy meals, relax, and socialise. You can also enjoy al fresco dining, and the camp staff will always be happy to cater to your needs.

Our guide, Enos, ensured that we saw everything we wanted to and more; he was knowledgeable and helpful throughout.
